ECHOSOUNDER - FISHFINDER
CHIRP technology offered in a range of solutions for different needs from sport fishing to safe echosounding
SEIWA CHIRP technology
Higher resolution, less power, less noise
SW BBFF CHIRP and SEIWA SWx multifunction displays come with a CHIRP sonar to offer a high resolution view of targets for an efficient and sustainable fishing.
CHIRP stands for Compressed High-Intensity Radiated Pulse and is a game-changing technology that has been used by the military, now finally available for professional and recreational sonar.
SEIWA CHIRP sonar transmits a longer pulse than traditional sonar, putting more energy into the water column achieving:
-
HD resolution and target definition
-
Greater ability to pull targets from the background noise
-
Improved bottom tracking at higher speeds
-
Improved bottom tracking at deeper depths
Longer Pulse
Longer Pulse
While traditional sonar trasmit a powerful energy pulse, but short in duration, SEIWA CHIRP sonar can transmit pulses that are much longer in duration.
Less Noise
Less Noise
A traditional sonar transmits about 1% of the time, while SEIWA CHIRP sonar longer pulses put more energy into the water column, even though transmitting at lower peak power than traditional fishfinders, thus causing less noise.
Depth and detail
Depth and detail
Different frequencies reveal different levels of detail. The higher the frequency, the higher the detail, but the lower is the depth that can be penetrated.
To offer the best combination of depth and detail, SEIWA CHIRP sonar transmits a sweeping range of frequencies from 40 to 210kHz.
Which CHIRP frequencies should you choose?
Choose what's best for your activity
Low CHIRP
< 80 kHzIt is used in deep water, it offers great depth performance identifying targets at all depths in the water column. |
MEDIUM CHIRP
80 -160 kHzIt can display a wider coverage area, scanning large areas more quickly, than high CHIRP. Higher resolution than low frequency CHIRP. |
HIGH CHIRP
150 -210 kHzIt offers high resolution for shallow water, highest detail for smaller objects. Best for inland and freshwater fishing activities. Best for depths: < 600 feet / < 180 m |

Smart marks from Fishfinder history to map
SEIWA ROMEO software features some special functions dedicated to fishing such as the Smart Marks on FF history!
Browse the Fish Finder history up to 5 minutes and, if you find anything interesting, place a mark on it, you will find it on your chartplotter map!
Then, with thanks to the Cursor Box smart function, just point the cursor on the mark’s position in the map to instantly view distance and bearing.
Fishing Ranges
Advanced map option for easier fishing
You can select on your SEIWA charplotter a fishing range: when you know the fish are suspended over certain depths, highlight the range so you can quickly identify more places to check out!
*Function available with NAVIONICS charts.
